ABOUT HALO

follow the halo is a digital zine that supports visual arts from the middle east and beyond. every month, we release an issue around a theme - past issues have explored themes of diaspora, coming of age, and empowerment - accompanied by a commissioned work created in collaboration with an emerging artist.

follow the halo aims to support regional artists through grassroots initiatives. we support artists through our monthly residencies, product collaborations, interviews, write ups and critical dialogue (all of which are included in our issues). we believe in creating an inclusive community that fosters cultural production for underrepresented artists; namely, women, non-binary individuals, and artists of colour. follow the halo believes that cultural production can and should be supported through individual efforts.

NOTE FROM OUR FOUNDER

As you might already know I love all things art and culture. I also love supporting the region's creative and cultural economy.  So I felt it was only necessary to start a project that supports and funds the region's arts scene. I decided to call this project 'follow the halo' because halos are often associated with positive, soulful energy. Also, my name, Darah, is Arabic for 'halo' - so it made sense to follow the halo. By following along you are supporting the arts & culture. Stick around to make more magic together.
