Introducing our latest project: #LadiesWhoArtAndCake
About two weeks ago follow the halo reached 1,000 followers on instagram (@halozine). My sister and I were ecstatic. We couldn't believe that in the few short months of being on instagram (we were against existing on social media for a while) we had already gathered so much support - not that follower count matters but it just felt so good to feel like people were responding to the work we were sharing. And so, we spammed all of our friends with messages of "OMG HALO IS AT 1000 FOLLOWERS" on whatsapp.
And so, and because there are actual angel human beings in this world, a friend of mine sent a HUGE cheesecake - my favourite kind - as a surprise delivery to celebrate Halo's little success. As my sister and I sat around the dining table to devour our cheesecake, we started discussing the future of Halo, and naturally the art world. Then, my youngest sister interrupted us by saying, "you guys should live stream this". Live stream? Whaaat? I thought the idea was brilliant except for my visceral dislike for instagram live streams particularly those where I have to speak directly into the camera. However, the idea was brilliant. Two Arab girls eating cake and talking art? It sounded like the kind of revolutionary change the art industry in the region needed. So we did it. And so, follow the halo will be releasing one episode a week by the name of #LadiesWhoArtAndCake to talk all things art and eat cake (cos who doesn't want to a reason to devour cake on a weekly basis?).
And so, this post is just to let y'all know that we will bringing cake and art discussions to an internet connection near you once a week. Follow us on instagram to stay informed of the time and date of future episodes in the form of last-minute-collage-art-as-instagram-content. You know where to find us: @halozine.
