We wanted to say thank you

We wanted to say thank you

Halo friends!

I just wanted to come on here quickly to say that we have officially made our first donation to Medical Aid for Palestinians! I am so proud of how successful this project has been, and I want to thank each and every person who bought a tote bag and contributed. I also want to thank our resident artists - Shahad Nazer, Rama Duwaji and Beya Khalifa - who made this possible, and let us use their commissioned works for good!

When we first started the project, I was so worried no one would be interested. I was worried that the idea of putting art on totes wasn't enticing enough or that the cause wasn't something people were passionate about anymore. This is an understandable concern especially because we live in the world that has normalised Israeli apartheid and the oppression of Palestinians, and the many images of "war-torn" Palestine in the media have desensitised us. But, to my relief and utter joy, everyone really came through! All the profits - there was a lot - went to Medical Aid for Palestinians, a U.K. based NGO that provides much needed medical relief to Palestinians in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. Here is a screen shot from our donation yesterday:

We also received an email from MAP with the following message:

"With your support we can carry on providing emergency medical aid when it is needed and improve Palestinians' access to healthcare.

Your donation means that we can help get medicines into Gaza. You are helping us to allow vulnerable communities facing the occupation daily to have access to a doctor. You are helping to provide psychosocial support the Palestinian children fleeing Syria. You are allowing us to send midwives to help Palestinian mothers living in shipping containers in the refugee camps of Lebanon."

I really want to thank everyone who bought a tote bag and supported this project from the beginning - we wouldn't have been able to make this contribution without you all. I am so grateful and humbled.

I can't wait to share the future projects we will be working on for the Halo Shop.

Much love to you all
